The BFM, GMB trade union and the Furniture, Furnishings and Interiors National Training Organisation (FFINTO) have developed a Code of Practice for the industry on Achieving Equality and Diversity in Employment. This has been possible because of funding made available by the DTI through the Partnership Fund - see Diversity In Future

Occupational Mapping - This project was an information gathering and analysing exercise to establish an information base and to inform future decision making within the Furniture, Furnishings and Interiors industry. 19. Kitchen Introductory Programme and Occupation Map Final Report - This report summarises the findings that were carried out by the Furniture, Furnishings and Interiors National Training Organisation (FFINTO) – the Standard Setting Body and Sector Skills Body – between June and December 2005.
20. National Occupational Standards (NOS) - Useful information for employers. The standards cover the key activities undertaken within an occupation and describe what an indivudual needs to do, know and understand in order to carry out a particular job role. They are a nationally recognised level of competence.

22. International Benchmarking - A report identify best practice in the development of occupational standards and vocational qualifications used by companies within the same sector in EEC countries. The four countries identified to benchmark are Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia.
